- How to Use Cookware of Aluminum Circle Safely
- Aluminum cookware, after a period of decline, has become popular again with development of process technology. Basins, kettles, pots and containers made of aluminum circles have entered our life again in a stealthy way, because they are no longer of dull silver surface as in the past and it’s more difficult to tell the material only by their surface. In spite of the ubiquitous existence of aluminum cookware, it does not mean you can use them casually. If you ignore some necessary tips, you may not be able to use them safely.
Many people tend to believe that it’s hard for aluminum products to get rusty. The fact is, many aluminum manufacturers promote their products by boasting their anti-rust ability as well. They declare that aluminum is an active element and reacts easily with the oxygen in the air. After the reaction a thin layer of transparent aluminum salt-slag is produced, which is called Al2O3. This layer of Al2O3, different from iron rust, proves to be as compact as a protective skin for the inner aluminum molecules. All the information above is true. The manufacturer failed to mention, however, that Al2O3 is vulnerable to both acid and alkali. Therefore, when you use a container made of aluminum circle, don’t keep food in the container too long or use it to contain vinegar, acid soup, alkali liquid or salty water. Nevertheless, you don’t need to panic and discard cookware made of aluminum circles, because it’s safe so long as you follow the tips above.
