- 0.5mm Aluminum Sheet: Substrate for Precision Manufacturing
- 0.5mm aluminum sheet falls under the category of cold-rolled ultra-thin aluminum sheet. It represents the optimal thickness, balancing material weight, forming precision, and structural rigidity. It is also the fastest-growing thin aluminum sheet in terms of usage in electronics, decoration, and precision hardware. Haomei Aluminum's 0.5mm aluminum sheets strictly adhere to the ASTM B209 precision standard, with standard thickness tolerances controlled within ±0.03mm and high-precision tolerances reaching ±0.015mm. The sheet surface undergoes double-roll finishing, achieving a surface roughness Ra≤0.8μm, free from defects such as roller marks, scratches, and color differences. It can be directly adapted for deep processing steps such as printing, oxidation, and stamping. In our actual customer interactions, we have found that in many scenarios where initial designs used 0.6mm or 0.8mm aluminum sheets, replacing them with 0.5mm aluminum sheets through structural optimization can reduce material costs by 20%-30% while still meeting performance requirements.

Electronic heat dissipation and electromagnetic shielding are the primary applications of 0.5mm aluminum sheets. This application primarily utilizes 1060-H14/H18 pure aluminum sheetes, which, thanks to their high thermal conductivity of 234W/(m·K), are widely used in LED lighting heat dissipation substrates, power adapter heat sinks, and communication equipment heat dissipation shielding covers. The 0.5mm thickness allows for the creation of dense finned structures through stamping, maximizing the heat dissipation area, while also ensuring the rigidity of the basic structure, avoiding the problems of deformation and poor installation fit associated with plates thinner than 0.3mm. In electromagnetic shielding applications, 0.5mm thick 3003 aluminum sheets can achieve a shielding effectiveness of over 30dB against low- and mid-frequency electromagnetic waves. They can be directly processed into shielding covers for electronic equipment and shielding linings for computer rooms, replacing thick copper plates to achieve a weight reduction of over 60% and a material cost reduction of approximately 40%. Many overseas electronics manufacturers we serve have adopted 0.5mm aluminum as their standard material for heat dissipation and shielding. Compared to 0.8mm, this reduces aluminum consumption per unit by 37.5%, while heat dissipation efficiency decreases by less than 5%, resulting in significant overall benefits.
In the architectural decoration and high-end signage sectors, the decorative value of 0.5mm aluminum sheets is most evident. This application often uses 3003-H24 semi-rigid aluminum sheets, widely used in high-end integrated ceilings, wall cladding, metal signage panels, and elevator interior trim. The 0.5mm thick aluminum sheet weighs only 1.35kg/㎡, with a low installation load, allowing for direct adhesive installation without complex keel structures, significantly reducing installation costs. Furthermore, the aluminum sheet surface is highly flat, and after anodizing or fluorocarbon coating, the color is uniform and delicate, without color difference or orange peel effect, providing a superior decorative effect compared to conventional thicker aluminum sheets. In high-end signage production, 0.5mm aluminum sheets offer excellent bending and engraving performance, enabling complex irregular shapes with smooth, burr-free edges, making them the preferred material for brand store signage and indoor wayfinding systems. Many customers have reported that the visual refinement of 0.5mm decorative aluminum sheets far surpasses that of aluminum sheets thicker than 0.8mm, better aligning with the aesthetic trends of modern minimalist design.
The precision hardware and packaging container sectors are typical applications of the formability of 0.5mm aluminum sheets. In this field, different alloy states are selected based on the specific working conditions: 1060-O temper soft aluminum sheets are commonly used for aluminum caps and sealing liners in food packaging, with an elongation rate ≥30%, allowing for one-time stretching and forming, providing excellent sealing performance and being non-toxic and hygienic; while 5052-H26 hard aluminum sheets are used for hardware springs, contact gaskets, and precision clips, with a tensile strength ≥260MPa, good elastic recovery, and resistance to fatigue fracture after repeated bending. The 0.5mm thickness perfectly meets the structural strength requirements of most small hardware components, eliminating the need for additional thickening and increased costs. Furthermore, the stamping production efficiency is high, with single-stamp speeds exceeding 200 times per minute, making it suitable for mass production.
Haomei Aluminum's 0.5mm aluminum sheets cover the entire 1000 series, 3000 series, and 5000 series alloy systems, supporting customization from O temper to H18 temper. Widths can be slit as needed within the range of 100mm-1600mm, and both coil and sheet delivery options are available. Products are protected with PE film and moisture-proof packaging, suitable for ocean shipping environments. Each batch comes with complete dimensional and material testing reports, enabling us to provide a stable and reliable supply of ultra-thin aluminum sheets to customers in various industries worldwide.
