- Metal spinning is widely used in industries such as cookware, lighting, and thin-walled container manufacturing due to its advantages: die-less forming, uniform wall thickness, and high product precision. As a continuous, point-by-point plastic deformation process, spinning places much higher demands on the microstructure uniformity, isotropy, and internal stress levels of aluminum circles compared to conventional stamping; the properties of the base material directly determine the yield rate and surface quality of the finished product. Haomei Aluminum has developed aluminum circle for spinning covers both 1000-series pure aluminum and 3000-series aluminum-manganese alloys, with comprehensive control over the entire metallurgical process to meet the forming requirements of various spinning applications.

Excellent isotropy ensures uniform wall thickness during spinning.
During the spinning process, the material is subjected to simultaneous circumferential tensile stress and radial compressive stress. Standard aluminum circles often exhibit significant rolling directionality—with property variances between radial and circumferential directions exceeding 10%—making them prone to issues such as localized thinning and off-center forming. By precisely coordinating rolling reduction rates and annealing processes, our spinning aluminium circles achieve a plastic strain ratio (r-value) of ≥0.75 and a difference in mechanical properties between radial and circumferential directions of ≤5%, ensuring uniform and stable deformation transfer. Post-forming wall thickness deviation is controlled within ±0.03mm, and roundness error is ≤0.2mm, fully meeting the dimensional requirements for high-precision spun parts.
Thorough internal stress relief enables single-pass forming with high spinning ratios.
Based on our extensive experience serving the spinning industry, internal material stress is a common bottleneck in the production of deep-cavity spun parts. Materials subjected to standard short-duration annealing often retain significant internal stress, leading to edge cracking or springback deformation during deep spinning operations—issues that typically necessitate additional intermediate annealing steps. Haomei spinning aluminium circles utilize a low-temperature, long-duration recrystallization annealing process with strictly controlled heating, soaking, and slow-cooling curves, achieving an internal residual stress relief rate of ≥95%. For the 1050-O aluminum circles, the limiting spinning ratio reaches 3:1; most conventional deep-spun parts can be formed in a single pass without intermediate annealing, boosting production efficiency by over 30%.
The material ensures high surface density and superior finished product quality.
Spinning deformation tends to magnify base material defects; surface pinholes or segregation layers found in standard cast-rolled aluminum circles can stretch into pitting or streaks during spinning, compromising subsequent surface treatments. Haomei spinning aluminium circle utilizes DC (Direct Chill) semi-continuous cast billets, with surface defects removed via double-sided milling. The finished product features a pinhole density of ≤5 per square decimeter and a maximum individual pore diameter of ≤0.1mm. Post-spinning surface roughness (Ra) is ≤0.8μm, free from noticeable "orange peel" texture, allowing for immediate progression to processes like anodizing, polishing, or coating, thereby reducing grinding costs.
Different aluminum alloys are suited to specific applications.
In the cookware sector, 1050-O aluminum circles are preferred; they offer high thermal conductivity (230 W/(m·K)) and uniform heat distribution, with food-contact safety meeting FDA and LFGB standards—ideal for deep stockpots, uniquely shaped saucepans, and clad-bottom cookware blanks.
For lighting reflectors, the 1060-O aluminum circles is recommended; it ensures excellent surface flatness after spinning and achieves over 85% reflectivity after mirror polishing, making it suitable for street lights, industrial/mining lamps, and stage lighting reflectors.
Thin-walled containers and hardware components utilize 3003-O aluminum circles, which offer strength over 30% higher than pure aluminum and excellent resistance to mild acid corrosion—suitable for chemical containers, food service ware, and decorative hardware.
